Sharing Shopify products in chat

Last updated: 17 July 2026

To send a Shopify product on WhatsApp, open the product picker in the message composer, search your synced catalog, and select an item. Stravax Engage sends the product's image with a caption showing its title, price, and store link as one ordinary WhatsApp message, following the same 24-hour window and consent rules as any other message you send. Stores that have also connected a Meta commerce catalog can send native catalog cards instead; see below.

How do I send a product to a customer?

In the composer, open the product picker, search for the item by name, and select it. The picker shows thumbnails and prices so you can confirm you have the right product before sending. Stravax Engage sends the product's image with a caption containing the title, price, and a link back to the product on your store, delivered as a single WhatsApp message through the same send pipeline as any other message. That means the same rules apply: if the conversation is outside the 24-hour window, sending a product is blocked the same way sending regular text would be.

If a product has no image, Stravax Engage falls back to sending the caption as a plain text message instead.

Where does the product catalog come from?

Stravax Engage keeps a read-only, synced cache of your store's products, it never edits anything in Shopify. The cache is filled from three places:

Product images in the picker and in sent messages link directly to your store's own image files, they are not copied or re-hosted by Stravax Engage.

Why does my store need to reconnect?

Reading your product catalog requires an additional permission (read_products) on your Shopify connection. If your store was connected before this feature existed, it won't have that permission yet, and the catalog panel and picker will show a "Reconnect to enable catalog" banner until you reconnect.

What happens if my store doesn't reconnect?

Nothing else changes. Every other part of your store connection, including abandoned cart recovery messages and checkout tracking, keeps working exactly as before whether or not you reconnect for the catalog feature. You simply won't be able to browse or send products until you do.

Reconnected store Store that hasn't reconnected
Product picker Shows products with thumbnails and search Shows a "Reconnect to enable catalog" banner
Settings panel Shows an "enabled" status and product count Shows a "reconnect to enable" status
Cart recovery, checkout tracking Unchanged Unchanged
Product sync Runs on connect, on demand, and daily Skipped until you reconnect

You can check connection status and trigger a manual sync (admin only) from the catalog settings panel, which also shows the number of products currently cached for each connected store.

Native catalog cards and multi-product lists (Meta commerce catalog)

If your organization has connected a Meta commerce catalog (Settings > Channels > Meta Commerce Catalog), the picker can also send WhatsApp's native product messages: a single-product catalog card, or a tappable multi-product list covering several products in sections. These render from your Meta catalog itself, so WhatsApp shows the catalog's own image, title, and price rather than a caption Stravax Engage composes. When a customer taps through and sends a cart, the cart arrives in your inbox conversation as a structured order. The same 24-hour window and consent rules apply to these sends too.

What isn't supported yet?

The Shopify product picker sends a product's default variant link. There isn't a picker for choosing a specific variant (like a size or color) yet. Product details themselves can only be edited in Shopify, Stravax Engage only mirrors what's already there.

If your catalog is larger than your plan allows, Stravax Engage caches products up to that limit and shows a clear notice rather than silently dropping items. See current plan limits for details.
