Closing a deal

Last updated: 25 July 2026

Marking a deal won is not a one-click status change. Stravax Engage asks for the deal amount and its currency, and refuses the move without them; the close date defaults to today if you leave it blank. A deal that goes through this won close then freezes, so the numbers your reports are built on cannot drift afterwards. A customer who comes back opens a new deal rather than reopening the closed one.

What do I have to enter to mark a deal won?

Picking a Deal won status opens a short form before anything is saved:

Field Rule
Deal amount A number above zero. Zero is refused: a deal closed for nothing is not a sale, and it would understate every report built on this figure.
Currency Required. Defaults to AED, and you can type any currency code your business uses.
Close date Defaults to today. It cannot be later than today, and cannot be earlier than 1 January 2020. Backdating within that range is allowed.

The same rules apply from the CRM board's convert dialog and from the conversation side panel. The server enforces them, not the form, so neither doorway can record a won deal without the amount and the currency; a blank close date is simply filled in as today.

Does a lost deal need anything?

No amount, no currency. A Deal lost status records a close date so a lost deal still has a date to report on. Moving a lead back to a Still working status clears the close date again, and moving it out of won also clears the amount and currency, so the board's converted totals only ever count deals that are currently won.

Why can I not edit a deal after it is won?

A deal that went through the won close is frozen. Its amount and close date are what your sales report, and your own books, are built on, so an agent cannot quietly re-open or re-price it. Trying to move a frozen lead returns "this deal is closed." Leads that were marked converted before 24 July 2026 carry no close date, so they were never frozen and stay editable.

Lost deals are not frozen. Re-working a lead you previously lost is normal, so it stays editable on the same record.

Can anyone unfreeze a deal?

An admin can. An admin moving a closed deal is treated like any other status change and is written to the lead's timeline with their name against it, so a correction is visible rather than silent. Everyone else has to open a new deal instead.

The customer bought again. Do I reopen the old deal?

No. Use Start a new deal in the conversation's side panel. That opens a fresh lead against the same contact and leaves the closed one intact as history, so a repeat customer builds a record of deals rather than one record that keeps being overwritten. The new lead starts with no status, ready to be worked.

What gets recorded when I close a deal?

Why was my close date refused?

Two reasons only: the date is in the future, or it is before 1 January 2020. A date equal to today is always accepted, including when your local day is ahead of UTC.
